About this tool

Profession Count answers "how many nurses (or dentists, pharmacists, loan officers) are in my state?" with the Bureau of Labor Statistics May 2025 employment estimates for 13 licensed professions in every state, ranked, with rates per 100,000 residents on the 2020 Census population. Employment counts people working in the occupation, not licences held, and states where BLS suppresses the estimate are left out rather than guessed. Free, no signup, every figure sourced.
